Fear No Evil

There is much happening in the world these days with the near economic collapse brought on by the globalize virus that has struck all the nations on this planet.  People are developing a heightened sense of panic that this may be the end of mankind.  Death is a hot button topic on most peoples minds these days.  Many say that we are entering the apocalypse and Armageddon.  Many others of a more scriptural leaning say we are entering the time of Tribulation.  While others are saying it is time to get the prepper gear out and make tracks into the wilderness.  Many just feel as though they must give up because they figure we are trapped.

But this is not the time.

Moses told us how we can deal with this through the example of the children of Israel who were trapped between the mountains, the sea and the full Egyptian army barreling down on them.  They had just left Egypt seven days earlier on the Exodus.  Passover initiated their departure and the whole week of traveling to the sea was a time of eating unleavened bread – the bread of haste.

Then they were trapped.  What did the children of Israel do?  They were fearful and in a very heightened state of panic.  We see that in the account of Exodus 14: 10 “As Pharaoh drew near, the sons of Israel looked, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they became very frightened; so the sons of Israel cried out to the LORD.”  Even though they cried out to the LORD, they turned towards Moses and complained against him. Many knew Moses’ upbringing in the house of Pharaoh and they no doubt believed him to be more Egyptian than Hebrew, with the hidden intent to destroy the Israelites from within.

Not so.

Exodus 14: 13 explains what was really meant to happen.  “But Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever.”  Through this unparalleled event that He was about to perform, the LORD was providing the world with an example of just Who He is – the Most High, the One Who owns all the earth and all that is in it (Psalms 24:1; 1 Corinthians 10:26).  And He was telling Israel that too.

Moses continues to speak to the Israelites.  Exodus 14:14 “The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent.”  This time he’s explaining what the LORD will do for them.

Notice the words the LORD had Moses speak:

  1. “Do not fear!” — This is an emphatic statement we can truly take to heart and DO
  2. “Stand by”  — This is what we are to do while not fearing
  3. “and see the salvation of the LORD” — This is the result of standing by while not fearing
  4. “which He will accomplish for you today;” — This is letting us know when that salvation will happen
  5. “The LORD will fight for you” — This offers more definition of how that salvation comes about
  6. “while you keep silent.” — When we do not fear, we are able to be in a quiet state of being

How do we know if we qualify for this salvation?  That’s easy to answer.  We ALL do.  That is why the admonitions of Moses are so important for Israel AND the stranger and sojourner among us.  The Torah which Moses put into written form is the life manual for all of us.

Not only that… but Yeshua died for ALL mankind.  All we have to do is believe Him with His promises, such as the fighting He will do for us.  Having this level of belief and trust in Him naturally leads us to not be in a state of fear.

All that is coming at us right now and the future events we know to come are not something to fear, for the LORD will fight for us as long as we do not fear and stand by and keep silent.

Let’s see what the LORD does as He fights for us.

Be well, go well and live well, everyone.
